The Medical Assistant Apprenticeship program will start on May 12, 2025.

Medical assistants play a critical role in healthcare, providing clinical and clerical support to providers in clinics.   Medical assistant programs emphasize skills in both clinical and clerical functions.

The medical assistant student will participate in a 730 hour medical assisting curriculum to include 570 classroom hours and 160 clinical preceptor hours in our FirstHealth ambulatory clinics over a 19 week period. After successful completion of the Medical Assistant Academy, students will be eligible to take the Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) certification exam administered by the American Medical Technologists (AMT).  Students will be full-time employees of FirstHealth of the Carolinas while attending the Medical Assistant Academy.

Graduate of high school or GED required.
