The HIM Manager works closely with the Assistant Director of HIM Systems, other HIM Supervisors, as well as with other departments within the organization to ensure patient records and documents are received timely and are effectively processed, prepped, and scanned for upload into the electronic medical record (EMR) and that all related HIM support functions are completed by staff. The individual is responsible for the direct supervision of staff including effectively staffing the section as needed to assure critical HIM workflow functions are consistently and effectively managed during designated shift/s.

Responsibilities

Managing chart correction help desk tickets in conjunction with chart correction phone line coverage.

 

· Manages staff effectively by hiring, training, evaluating, mentoring, counseling, and coaching employees within established policies.

· Oversight and management of corporate wide scanning, indexing, and/or electronic uploads of medical records into patient medical records.

· Training First Health employees outside of the HIM department in the correct process and procedures of scanning documentation into the EMR.

· Management of inbound Right-Fax clinical documentation upload and routing to applicable clinical areas as needed per policy guidelines.

· Develops and implements cross training and/or coverage needed to optimize daily HIM operations.

· Serve as Data Quality and/or General Manager on call, rotating weekends, and holidays as scheduled.

· Ensure all equipment that is used for scanning is maintained and in working order. This includes coordinating service calls as needed for problems with high-speed scanners.

· Effectively manage workflow by managing and organizing staff to consistently meet turnaround times and other deadlines.

Qualifications

· Associate degree in Health Information Management or a related field required.

· RHIA or RHIT credentials required. Preference to RHIAs.

· Two (2) years management experience to include at least one year of acute care HIM experience.

· New HIM graduates (Batchelor’s degree in HIM field) will be considered
